How did you get my phone number?
For most of our research studies, we call phone numbers that are generated randomly by a computer. This helps us to reach as many different types of people as possible, including those with unlisted phone numbers. We have no idea who you are.
How did you get my name and address?
Many times, our sponsoring agency will provide a list of names and addresses/phone numbers, but it is also not unusual to obtain a randomly generated list from commercial consumer databases. When we have access to this information, we can send out materials or ask to speak with a specific person. As with all of our studies, we keep all information confidential.
You keep calling at a time that does not work for me. Can I schedule a time to complete the survey?
Absolutely! You can contact the Center for Survey Research at 717-948-6429 or email@example.com. Be sure to include your telephone number (including area code) so that we can locate your record in our study and share a preferred time to speak with us.
Why do you ask to speak with the person 18 years of age or older who last celebrated a birthday?
This helps us to ensure the randomness of respondents by allowing all members of the household to have an equal chance of being selected to participate in our survey.
Why are you calling me if I placed my name on the DO NOT CALL LIST?
We are a non-profit research institution, and therefore, are not covered by the Do Not Call List. However, if you would like to be placed on the Center’s internal Do Not Call List, please share your phone number (including area code) with us in one of the following ways: send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call us directly at 717-948-6429. Please note that we cannot remove you from our calling queue unless you provide us with your full telephone number and indicate that you would like to be placed on our internal Do NOT Call List.
However, we would love to give you some additional information and answer any questions before you rule out participating in our study – your opinion truly counts! Please contact the Center for Survey Research at 717-948-6429 or email@example.com.
